I swear my husband must look out the doors and windows a 100 times a day. He is always worrying about the neighbors and what they are doing. If I go out in the garage to do a project he will be out there in just a few minutes acting like he is not caring what I am doing, but he eventually will try and get involved in what I am doing and he just can't figure out how to do much anymore. He picks at any little thing he sees, such as crumbs on a table or small things on the floor. He never throws them away, he just piles them up somewhere. He must go through his drawers and closet at least once a day and keeps stuff of no importance in every drawer. He is always afraid someone is going to steal from him. I am getting nervous about having a firearm in the house.
Or get the gun out of the house. Give it to a relative or can maybe take it to a police station... many have a “turn in your gun” program. If he asks where it is, say you don’t know or “it’s at the gun shop to be cleaned.” Better he is lied to than being shot.
You don’t need the gun, really. If by some chance there was home invasion, would you be able to access it and fire it (and not miss)? Husband certainly couldn’t. It’s better to get it out of the house.
Such a difficult situation, when you need protection you need it now, but him accidentally shooting would be tragic.
