One of the meds is a narcotic for depression.

Are you perhaps not in the US? In Germany for example, they do prescribe opiates for depression, but in the US. no nacrotics or pain killers are approved for treating depression. Here in the US you may be on Tricyclics, SSRIs, MAOIs, bupropions, or other drugs that affect neurotransmitters like Cymbalta (which are given for both physical and emotional pain). Anti anxiety meds are also given at times (like Ativan or Valium).

Regardless, coming off any of these drugs, anti depressants or narcotics, can be dangerous. Do NOT go cold turkey, you could have serious complications like seizures or even death. Weaning off is the best method to come off of these drugs, and a doctor's supervision is the best way to go.

Others here will know more, but narcotics for depression? Don't think so.
Narcotics can cause depression because they depress and dull your nervous system. Consult a doctor for guidance before you wean off any medication.

If you mean Tramadol, it has to be tapered off gradually or serious withdrawal occurs, including seizures. See the MD
