It has been said that Hospice should have volunteers. People who will come sit with the client. I have a friend who trained for this. Call your provider to see about this. You should be getting an aide thru hospice. See if they aide can stay longer. If LO is a memberbof a Church, seevif theybhave volunteers. Otherwise, you will need to hire someone to sit with LO.

Yes, you may require a sitter also. Hospice doesn't provide them. ALF doesn't provide them.

My brother returned to his ALF to die under Hospice (sepsis).
Given that hospice amounts now to a rote 1) two bed baths per week, 2) RN visit once a week or new pain symptoms' 3) hospital bed, bedside commode, 4) call from social worker, 5) call from clergy, 6)the "good meds" --there is not a lot else.
My brother was very ill and very helpless. He couldn't be alone in his room. His ALF attempted care while we worked on getting 24/7 folks hired in. This was at the beginning of Covid, and somewhat a nightmare logistically given I was at the other end of our state. My brother died before that we could get help in.
The aids at his ALF were nothing short of heroic, as was the entire facility (forever my thanks to Pacifica Senior Living in Palm Springs).

No ALF can provide 24/7 care. If there are no funds whatsoever to hire in any help then in-facility Hospice may be the only way to go. The ALF cannot do it.

I hope you will give us any added details we are missing. You provided little information. I am sorry for your situation and wish the best of luck to you.

My mother has been in AL for 4+ years we brought Hospices in two weeks ago, being able to do this is one reason we chose this facility for her.
