Helper, It’s called CDPAP..& you need to register with a home health agency, get background checked, blood test, take MMR Vaccine, have your primary care physician fill out a bunch of papers & go back to lab to make sure vaccine antibodies are present. You do all this & then you must have a couple of backups go through same process…Also, your bf must be on Medicaid…& if not…if he has over limit $$$, then you & bf have to go see Elder law Atty to set up trust. ..

How do I know? I jumped through all the hoops & then when it came to getting backups to do the same, nobody wanted to go through all that. I kept trying to explain that they will still get paid…but no amount of explanation was enough.

I hope you have better luck in this CDPAP program. Maybe it’s different in other states…I’m in NY

Hugs 🤗

One thing to keep in mind is that many states (like mine, MN) have a rule that no caregiver can be considered an independent contractor. This means your partner will be an actual employer to you, who must comply with withholding tax obligations, report your wages quarterly, give you state-mandated days off/overtime, and create a W2 at the end of the year. He doesn't want to get on the wrong side of the IRS...
