My great-aunt has a commode in her bedroom and next to it on a table is a roll of toilet paper for her to use. The problem is that she gets feces all over the top of the toilet paper roll. This is extremely unsanitary for her, me, and her other caregivers. Is there any kind of cover for a roll of toilet paper where you can pull the squares out of it? Similar to the covers that fit over a box of tissues. Something that I don't have to mount to a wall. It has to cover the whole roll except where you can grab the paper.
I realize baby wipes are more expensive but on the plus side your mom will likely do a better job of getting clean.
But I have to agree with Isthisrealyreal - if your mom is getting poo on the entire tp roll than this means she is getting poo on her hand. An all together much bigger problem - in my humble opinion.
This should allow for pulling the paper off.
However, if she is getting it all over her hands, a dirty roll of toilet paper is probably the least of your worries, what else is being touched.
It may be time for you or aid to handle that task.
I looked up toilet roll covers and most are mounted if you don't want her to touch the roll. Some commodes come with their own holder attached. Can you do something like that.
I have a plastic canvas sq box tissue holder. Just put a roll of toilet paper in it sideways and it worked. If you can find a cheap plastic one, it may work. Then the box can be wiped off.
