Find Care & Housing
Yes especially when the body is preparing for it's final journey. Sleeping a lot can often mean that the end is nearing.
You may want to bring hospice on board if you haven't already.
Best wishes.

Yes it is common.
My Husband went from sleeping a "normal" 8 hours and over the course of his journey with dementia at the end he was sleeping 23 hours a day.
Sleeping more is one of the signs of decline that Hospice will look for when recertifying a patient.
So sleeping longer is common and a "normal" part of decline.

It is a very common question here, W. And the answer is yes, it is normal for most dementias. Sufferers seems to sleep more and more and eat less and less. You might discuss with the MD, but do know that this is the normal experience of this progression.
