My mother had x3 falls in a nursing home in the UK, where
she was receiving 6 weeks care/respite under the NHS.
Having broken her wrist.
She had a bleed on the brain.
Was back in hospital, not expected to survive, thankfully has, went to another hospital and back home. With a care package. (6 weeks)
Her bleed had had a fatal affect on her health and well-being causing other problems and rendered her unable to walk and more memory problems.
Surely, she was not cared for appropriately as like some of your relatives.
Times etc don’t tally and I am still awaiting a report as per my complaint.
But the authorities are asking for her to pay for her care.
She now needs staff 4x daily.
More drugs.
Double incontinent, can’t stand and even more memory problems. She’s stuck in bed or a chair. Needs to be feed by my father who’s 91, we are all trying to help her.
As to whether your Mom received bad care which caused a bleed and the poor outcome, bleeds occur for many reasons. The pressure on the brain kills and pressures cells within the brain. The deficits often depend on the areas that had pressure at the time. There are many ways to attempt to relieve this pressure. Not all of them work all of the time. It sounds as though your Mom now needs care within the nursing home system in your country. I am so sorry. Not all illness can be prevented, and not all can be successfully treated.
