My mother has been saying that for the week. I think with all the talk and news about coronavirus she is becoming anxious. When she is stressed she want to go home to her mother. She told me she was afraid. Keeps asking if everything is ok.

CRK, time to start using "therapeutic fibs". I had to do with my own Mom [90+].

It first rattled me when my Mom wanted to go visit her parents. Then I remembered this is normal for those with memory loss. So I told my Mom "your parents are visiting the old country" which is something that they use to do, thus my Mom accepted that "fib".

Sometimes my Mom would ask to visit one of her sisters [all of whom had passed on some time ago], so I quickly had to remember what that sister use to do, so I could do a "fib" that Mom would understand.

So, when your own Mom asked to go home, think of some reason why you both can't go there.... such as "the road in front of the house is torn up, we will go when it is fixed".

It is best not to correct your Mom, it would only confuse her more.

Many of the elderly feel this way. My mom wants to be with my deceased dad. I understand how they feel. It’s sad.
