Mom needs annual diabetic foot check at podiatrist, follow-up visit to nephrologist, endocrinologist, medication for COPD and possibly pulmonologist, follow-up care with neurologist and a neuropsychological evaluation. She can’t get out of AL due to Covid rules. Now, she is sick - coughing and chest congestion- I can hear her wheezing over the phone. She is also begging to get out - mind you my brother has not moved her furniture in. I’ve told her I can’t help her because the last time I took her to endocrinologist my SIL instructed AL to report me to police. I am not willing to go to jail for taking my mom for medical care. I notified my brother yesterday that she is sick. He came back at me with a smartalec response. Bottom line he had nurse check her and said she must have been agitated cause her CO2 is fine. The AL has a psychiatrist geriatric doctor on board but he can’t do specialized medicine. He’s on board at 20 more AL’s and sees patients in his office in Atlanta 4 days a week. He NEVER examines my mother. But my brother leaves all her medical care up to them! They’ve already been negligent in not giving her insulin for six weeks after her admission and I had to get this straightened out with her regular endocrinologist. If I don’t get my mother out of there and bring her to my home to care for her she is going to be neglected. However, if I do, I risk my brother and SIL doing something vindictive to me. What should I do?
Or ask you brother to do so as he is POA.
She has the resources to request a staff member call the house doctor. I would try to facilitate a visit by him.
I certainly wouldn’t take her home.
