Find Care & Housing
Jai, check the veterans section here, (https://www.agingcare.com/veterans-assistance) and follow up with the VA in your area, with a state VA office, or local county office. There are trained service officers who can help you.

First find the DD214 discharge document as you'll need that.

Don't go to some private company that purports to help you get qualified; they legally aren't allowed to charge for that so they get fees by analyzing asset portfolios and "managing" them.

For sure written info and/or documentation would have been really helpful. Because now I'm not sure if he paid into a pension for my mom or not. I know that he was receiving his retirement pension; & he served in Korea.
Thanks for the helpful info. At least now I don't feel so helpless or confused about trying to get answers.

This is something else we should learn after caring for our parents. What we are entitled to as military vets and what our spouses are. Right it down and put it in with our important papers so our children have the info. My Uncle was in WWII underage. He had no proof of this so was not able to have this on his grave marker. The goverment had no record either.

As a retiree do u know if he paid into a pension for ur Mom? Military pensions don't pass on to the surviving spouse. If Dad was in a war /conflict then she may be able to get Aids and Attendance.
