Hi I know this is good place to postyour thoughts, My Mom has no STM and it’s effected her LTM as well. It’s sad to see how it’s progressing. I have moments when it hits me and I get teary eyed. I feel helpless and all I can do is pray for my Mom. I don’t see my Mom as much as I liked to and always been close to her. It breaks my heart. I tell my Mom she is the best Mom in the world and she says that’s quite a compliment. She tells me imthe best Son in the world. I’m just feeling emotional today. Any kind words or encouragement would be appreciated

There will be good days and bad days . I suggest Playing her favorite Music for some reason They will remember the words to songs . My Dad would sing songs from the 1930's . Basically You become their Parent and Thats Ok . Happy You have a loving relationship with Your Mom .

You are showing her she is loved. As a mom, I can tell you that is the best thing that you could ever do for her.

You are grieving because you are watching your mother decline , that is normal .

Be thankful that you are having nice conversations with Mom . Some patients with this disease are tormented with hateful thoughts and paranoia which is difficult for their adult children to deal with as well .

You could also join an in person support group near you .
