She was removed with no written notice, within 48 hours. Is removing a patient with no notice within this time frame legal? We didn't even have time to look for another nursing home. The home they found couldn't take her until Monday, and this being Friday, she was sent to the psych unit of a nearby hospital for the weekend, which completely traumatized her. is this legal?

Mom wheeled herself out the back door to the laundry building. The maintenance man found her. After that she had to wear an ankle device that would set off an alarm if she went out an exit. This was not a lock down facility. I don't know if it's legal without notice but doesn't sound typical. Ask if facility uses ankle device?

HI Cg
If this was the first time she got out then I'm surprised they took her out on the baker act or section 5150 or 72 hour psych hold

How old is your mom - did she put up a fight when they tried to get her back in ?

Was she given new meds in the psych hospital ? What type of facility will she be sent to on Monday ?

Read the contract. Many facilities will have a resident leave as soon as they become a danger to themselves or others. This must not have been a locked facility. Is that the case?

Does she have dementia? If so, if she is mobile enough to get out to the driveway a nursing home may very well not be able to provide the care she needs. What are her health issues?
