Started out on Razadyne ER 16 mg. I have noticed a decline in his memory the last 6 months. However he is still driving and I still work part time. I am wondering if anyone else works part time and is a care giver. Little concerned about leaving him alone because never know when he might have some bad spell.

This is a progressive illness. A temporary fix is home health if you can afford it but in the long run it is better to go into assisted living and later a nursing home. I have taken care of mom for 6 years and she can’t be left alone for 5 minutes. One person cannot take care of a person with dementia. It takes a whole staff of 24 hour care. It will ruin your physical and mental health as it runs its course. Life is a circle. As we get older and lose our health and mental decline we age backwards mentally. In the beginning a dementia patient can be left alone a hour or two but soon they need a sitter 24 hours a day. I have been a full time caregiver to my mom for 6 years and I regret it. Her mind is equivalent to a 2 year old child and moving into a nursing home in September. I put her on those drugs that your husband is on early on and took her off of them after two months due to side effects. They made her see things that weren’t there. It had the same effect on gramaw. Caregivers often end up with medical problems due to the stress. Time to plan for the future. What is best not only for your husband but for you. Push guilt away. Think logically for solutions.

I am sorry that you are going through this. I can't offer you an or any answers, however, if you are concerned about any problems that may crop up, and problems will; i.e. falls, and you wish to continue working, if possible I would get some in home "care", at least while you're working.

Best of luck to you. I'm sure that others can offer meaningful answers.
