My mother has been on resperidol for 5 weeks and has developed a bad rash. I believe it is because of this new medication. The doctor wants to put her immediately on another med, but I would like to wait a few days to see if the rash will go away before putting her on another medication. As her medical Power of Attorney, do I have a right to request this?
Hopefully mom was not taking Risperdal with cola or tea, as that can lead to ugly side effects for some reason.
As POA, you always have the right to request anything you'd like. But again, have the doctor explain to you why he's making the choices to prescribe what he is.
