Check out the paratransit division of your local transit company. They offer door to destination personal service, generally at a nominal rate.

Sometimes good sized transit companies will have what used to be called "small bus" in our area. It's more the size of a U-Haul van than a large bus, and makes special pickups and deliveries to individual destinies. They used to have wheelchair lifts.

Ours only charges $1 each way, but there's a 10 mile limit from the home, and arrangements do have to be made before the trip.

Our senior center also has 2 of those at its location; I'm not sure if they take seniors shopping or what their functions are.

In fact, your local senior center might have some suggestions as well, or know of other services.

You could also contact your area agency on aging to see if they have any programs in your area to assist seniors. The financial assistance available to families that are not on Medicaid is minimal to nothing. Lots of folks needing help, scarce state and federal funds.

You would pay them to drive you from your own funds.
