I work full time. Mom has lifeline. Can not drive, speak clearly or consistently and is starting to lose strength because she lacks activity; too much tv, needs activity and friends. I don't know how these programs work. She need help with activities. She was an extremely active person prior to the stroke in Aug 2011. She loved singing, karaoke, dancing, swimming, fixing her home, going out with friends. She has definitely lost all independence. I want somewhere she can go that she can have fun and get away from the TV a couple days. Please let me know what your program offers that might fit this type of condition. Mom is very aware of things, people, her likes and dislikes. So mentally she is the very much almost the same. She is severely effected by the communicating issues of aphasia.

I see that you live in New Hampshire. Try Googling adult daycares in your town in New Hampshire. I know here in St. Louis there are so many to choose from and some provide transportation to and from. Adult daycares offer activities, outings for those able to go out, programs, entertainment (professional entertainers), pet therapy, movies, etc. She may not be able to communicate well due to her aphasia but you said that mentally she is doing well. She may find the activities in an adult daycare stimulating and enjoyable despite her aphasia and she probably wouldn't be the only one who has difficulty communicating. Good luck!
