Share a few details and we will match you to trusted home care in your area:
I use a CVS brand pullups ultimate overnight underwear, absorbs 8x its weight. I also place women's protective pads ultimate inside her depends, works very well for her. Keeps her dry and irritation free. We ambulate her to the commode every two hours during the day and change her every 3 hours at night The cost is paid by her insurance. Hope this helps.
I bought Walgreens Serenity brand in pullups. They fit better than Depends. WG would have them "buy one get one 50% off" Its been a while but it was something like $18 for 30/32 diapers so with the sale $27 for 60/64. They also had a monthly coupon for $5 which helps when the sale was not on.
Is your husband a Veteran? If so the VA might provide supplies. Is he on Hospice? of so Hospice should provide them (If he is not on Hospice have them evaluate him, he may qualify and you will get a lot more than incontinence supplies)
If your LO is on Medicaid, ActivStyle was a client of ours so just putting it out there (I can't vouch for the absorbancy because I never needed to use their products but the company seem genuinely ethical).
My own two cents: people would do better to economise by buying in bulk than by skimping on quality. The stated absorbency of a product probably is pretty reliable, consumer protection laws would see to that if there were ever a challenge worth arguing about; but it isn't the only thing to consider. There are also fit, finish, materials, ease of use, even aesthetics; and as with almost everything in life you do tend to get what you pay for.
It is worth trying a few different types anyway, though; there are variations in sizing and design so that which is best for one person is very much an individual matter. The big online continence care suppliers are the best source, I think: they carry a wide range of products and often offer very useful general advice, too.
Pull-ups are not as absorbent. I would suggest pull ups in the daytime (double up if you have to) and diapers for over night. You may have to test out the brand for yourself because some cause irritation. Especially when they get wet and don't get changed right away.
If you or a friend have a membership at a BJ's Warehouse Store, their max absorbency house brand seems comparable to the Depends. For women's size M, the Depends are $43 for 88, and the house brand is $33 for 92. (Plus they offer coupons for both about every two months or so.) So far so good since we switched. I've been happy with their house brands in general-they make a version of the 'Presser Vision' vitamin for macular degeneration that's a lot cheaper than the Bausch & Lomb original.
I'm going to say from experience that name-brand Depends are about the best product available. They are more expensive than the off-brands. I've always recommended Depends products to client's families for every level of incontinence.
My mom swears by Tena Overnite Heavy Absorbency underwear and also the pads. She has tried so many different brands I wish I had kept a spreadsheet! She is completely incontinent.
Many stores have their own brands and will state on the box "compare to Depends Super Plus" for example. Krogers and Walgreens and others may be a good substitute.
I wish I had the answer to that but, instead am now in the same boat of having to provide these items now that hospice has ended their services for my mom.
They were using the "Depends" pullups for daytime and "Depends" tabbed for nighttime.
Since these are so expensive in general and someone has mentioned if your LO is in a care facility, they may use your high-end products on other residents which makes me mad already.
Hospice told me to at least buy the high-absorbency regardless of brand as they won't need to be changed as often and may save money in the long run.
I've been doing a lot of research and so far I'm considering buying the "Tranquility" Daytime pullups and the "Tranquility ATN (all through the night) tabbed briefs.
I'll be equally curious as to what other posters will recommend!

They have all the latest technology and they don't have plastic around the legs that so many other brands, including high end brands have.
They come 80 in a box for around 35 to 40 dollars, cheapest I found for the quality.
