She lost the lower part of her leg to leg ulcers, due to not taking care of herself. She is home now but she has not made an effort to contact her doctors for follow up care. She is getting mean with everyone. My brother and nephew live with her to take care of her, she will not use the bathroom. We remodeled her house for her wheelchair. Modified the bathroom and her bedroom. She will not let physical therapist into the house to work with her. She only lets the visiting county nurse come to change her bandage on her stump. When I tried to change her sock on other foot I noticed it was swollen and red. She will not let us bathe her either.

try contacting the department the county nurses are coming out of. if they're not able to resolve your issues right away, advise them to leave you detailed messages about the situation (if you're not able to answer the phone at work; maybe you can try to address your issues/questions about her during your breaks) or get someone to come to bat to help with this particular leg problem.

It sounds like an infection is brewing in the other leg as well. Toxemia and pain would account for the mean attitude. The county nurse should be alerted to check it, so call her. Shortly she will be back in the hospital for IV antibiotics that may or may not save the leg. Do NOT allow her to return home, insist on talking to the discharge planner. Get her to a memory care facility, a regular nursing home can't handle aggressive patients.
