I am 18 years old and my father has stage 4 cancer. He has been told he does not qualify for assistant living for he makes too much money on social security, disability. He is currently on medicare. we are about to be evicted from our home with no place to go. I will be starting school in January and I will not be able to care or him on a daily basis that he requires. we have no family locally to turn to. All family lives in NH or WA. I just don't know where to turn to get my dad the care he needs and peace of mind. he has stage 4 terminal melanoma cancer on his bones. he has had his colon removed in Dec and needs constant care. has not eaten in weeks and currently I have been monitoring his vpn iv. he is on a lot of pain medication but it is very expensive, please help.
I don't know if the American Cancer Society actually helps people in need, but you might contact them for suggestions.
I'm also confused why with Stage IV cancer you would be considered assisted living. Wouldn't a care facility or hospice be more appropriate?
