My mother went into a nursing home and has Alzheimer's. I am her POA and have a lot to do because I have to apply for financial aid for her, and any thing else that comes up. My siblings leave everything to me since I am POA. It is too much. I have a job and a family, too. I do not live near her. I am constantly handling issues after work and think about it all the time. I am in the middle of the application process for her to pay for nursing home. I have told my siblings I am very stressed and cannot do it all myself. They just say
"Oh, take care of yourself." and basically blow me off. I know they are just glad to have me deal with it all. Any advice?
The only possible suggestion I have , if you have to spend down, would you be able to hire an attorney/consultant to help with the application process. Good luck
My advice is, if it got dumped on you, dump it back. Whenever there is too much on my plate, I take some stuff off. You have to reduce your load yourself.
