Bridger,
Every hour?
That's a whole lot of Grandmas getting run over.

Earlybird,

Sendhelp, you brought back a memory. My niece was in a Christmas play one year and my mom and family attended. I asked about accessible seating and the school ticket collector told me it was safe up the front. Well the musical started and everything was good. We were all relaxed and enjoying my niece in the play when all of a sudden a very tall animated reindeer came leaping down the aisle and landed smack under my mom w/c it gave her a jolt. His hooves were stuck underneath. He kept trying to pull his hooves out. My family and I were hysterically laughing, could not stop, lights were all on us, play stopped. I had tears rolling down my face from laughter. I tried to help the poor boy but they were stuck like glue. The lady in back asked if our mother was ok and she did say she was. The boy was crying at the end and apologized to my mother, it was not his fault we reassured him and he gave my mom a hug. On the way home we sang mom got run over by a reindeer. Oh my goodness. My mother complained of back pain, she has a bad back to begin with. Guilty for singing the song we all felt bad. Took her to the ER and the doctors and nurses could not stop laughing. They had no idea what to write in their notes. I told them to write she got run over by an animated reindeer. The ER doctor told me she had a break in her spine. I said oh no, may I see the x-ray. I looked at it and said it looks like the old healed fracture to me and he then said yes he was not aware she fell years ago and had a small fracture. I called the Superintendent and principle of the school and complained they should have a handicapped section. Well my niece was called into the office and told her they started a section for handicapped. I am glad something good came out of all this. Flowers were sent to my nieces house instead and SIL kept them. She did ask what should she do with them, I was not going to tell her, my goodness she should have known. I went out and bought some flowers for mom. That was the last Christmas play we went to. Glad my mother was not seriously injured.

Grandma got run over by a reindeer
Walking home from our house Christmas eve
You can say there's no such thing as Santa
But as for me and grandpa we believe
She'd been drinking too much eggnog
And we begged her not to go
But she forgot her medication
And she staggered out the door into the snow
When we found her Christmas morning
At the scene of the attack
She had hoof-prints on her forehead
And incriminating Claus marks on her back
Grandma got run over by a reindeer
Walking home from our house Christmas eve
You can say there's no such thing as Santa
But as for me and grandpa we believe
Now we're all so proud of grandpa
He's been taking this so well
See him in there watching football
Drinking beer and playing cards with cousin Mel
It's not Christmas without Grandma
All the family's dressed in black
And we just can't help but wonder
Should we open up her gifts
Or send them back (send them back)
Grandma got run over by a reindeer
Walking home from our house Christmas eve
You can say there's no such thing as Santa
But as for me and grandpa we believe
Now the goose is on the table
And the pudding made of fig
And the blue and silver candles
That would just have matched the hair on grandma's wig
I've warned all my friends and neighbors
Better watch out for yourselves
They should never give a license
To a man who drives a sleigh
And plays with elves
Grandma got run over by a reindeer
Walking home from our house Christmas eve
You can say there's no such thing as Santa
But as for me and grandpa we believe
Singin' grandpa
Grandma got run over by a reindeer
Walking home from our house Christmas eve
You can say there's no such thing as Santa
But as for me and grandpa we believe
Merry Christmas

Memorized the song:
"Grandma got run over by a reindeer"!

Even though is is negative comedy, it is one of my favorite songs!

Please stay on topic if you are at all able, by putting your complaints in a positive light, just like CWillie has done. That is why Cwillie is appreciated for her wit and sense of humor.

Topic is: My favorite things....

See y'all back at "My whine moment" for some "free speech" opportunities.

Bridger, Those are my favorite of the worst Christmas songs!

Merry Christmas, brats.

Bridger,

I agree, those are very lame songs!

I heard the two worst ever Christmas songs today. I Want a Hippopyamus for Christmas and Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer.

NeedHelp, some of the slightly less obvious Christmas Carols are worth listening to as well: The Sussex Carol is quite joyful, and Gabriel's Message almost sacred.

In the run up to Christmas, listening to Vivaldi's Gloria. Small but perfectly formed.

"Sendhelp,"

My husband and I had that song as our husband and wife dance at our wedding reception 23 years ago. That song still brings tears to my eyes whenever I play it.

When my mom was near death in rehab, I even sang it to her over the phone outside her window - I could barely get through it.

My husband played this song at our wedding....20 years ago

Tomorrow morning if you wake up,
And the sun does not appear
I, I will be here
If in the dark we lose sight of love,
Hold my hand, and have no fear
Cause I, I will be here
I will be here when you feel like being quiet
When you need to speak your mind,
I will listen and
I will be here when the laughter turns to cryin'
Through the winning, losing and tryin'
We'll be together 'cause I will be here
Tomorrow morning if you wake up,
And the future is unclear
I I will be here
As sure as seasons are made for change,
Our lifetime's are made for years
So, I I will be here
I will be here and you can cry on my shoulder,
When the mirror tells us we're older,
I will hold you and
I will be here to watch you grow in beauty
And tell you all the things you are to me
I will be here
I will be true to the promise I have made
To you and to the One who gave you to me
I I will be here
And just as sure as seasons are made for change
Our lifetime's are made for years
So, I I will be here we'll be together
I will be here

Sometimes. I wonder what all you younger ones would do without elders around to remind you of history.

In 1969, Credence Clearwater Revival sang these words-sounds just like what is happening now!

Bad Moon Rising
Creedence Clearwater Revival

I see the bad moon a-rising
I see trouble on the way
I see earthquakes and lightnin'
I see bad times today
Don't go around tonight
Well it's bound to take your life
There's a bad moon on the rise
I hear hurricanes a-blowing
I know the end is coming soon
I fear rivers over flowing
I hear the voice of rage and ruin
Well don't go around tonight
Well it's bound to take your life
There's a bad moon on the rise, all right
Hope you got your things together
Hope you are quite prepared to die
Looks like we're in for nasty weather
One eye is taken for an eye
Well don't go around tonight
Well it's bound to take your life
There's a bad moon on the rise
Don't come around tonight
Well it's bound to take your life
There's a bad moon on the rise.

I like a cool sheet, but then I am a native New Englander. I don't even own sweaters. Too hot for my liking.

I was worried about setting off miniature electrical storms with my sheets too Gladimhere especially since my house can get desert dry in the winter, but it hasn't been a problem. The best thing about these sheets is they always feel warm, no climbing into a cold bed or cold spots beyond your little nest of body heat - not good for people who are hot blooded but wonderful for the perpetually chilly like me!

I don't think I would like fleece sheets. I don't like anything fleece. Too much polyester, too much static in a dry climate. Static make me crazy!

If you think flannel sheets are nice you should try the fleece ones - 10X better!
