Find Care & Housing
Yes and I miss traveling too. Like going somewhere exciting for my anniversary; and going to my family reunion where I get to see my God-sister. She's now my responsibility since her Godfather, my dad, is dead.

I know my wife misses being able to travel to see her identical twin sister who I enjoy seeing also. At least, I can tell them apart.

I hope in December, our family will be able to travel to our already planned and booked vacation for Christmas week. I know we can't travel to get together for Thanksgiving, but the son who lives the nearest to us will come home for that.

I miss traveling freely so much - these are some of my favorite places:

Ketchikan, Seward, Homer, Anchor Point the westernmost point in the North American Highway System, Whittier, Portage Glacier, Mendenhall Glacier, Prince William Sound, Denali National Park, seeing an actual reindeer (yes, they are real - they are known as caribou), driving along Turnagain Arm considered to be one of the most beautiful stretches of highway in America - all in Alaska. Even flying into Anchorage was beautiful. A very majestic place to visit!

Glacier National Park in Montana, Estes Park in Colorado, Grand Canyon National Park at sunrise and sunset, Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah.

Victoria, BC, Butchart Gardens in Brentwood Bay, BC on Vancouver Island, Whidbey Island and Anacortes, Washington.

Ah, the beauty of nature!

Since my friend who writes and plays piano music as well as sings sometimes makes more money when I listen to her music on Spotify, I play her and others' music in a folder that I have there. The music is so smooth that it does not distract me from whatever I'm doing on the computer at the time. She's told me that Spotify pays her more than Pandora for the same music.

Somehow I've grown away from listening to music, possibly because I'm not driving much and listening to the radio and I think I also used to be exposed to a lot by the kids (yeah, they haven't been kids for a long time). Tonight I had a song running through my head so I pulled up one of my old playlists - oh yeah 😄

Dad has a funny old record with someone singing, "I got a brand new razor. It was sharpened yesterday, and now we're gonna play this game my way! "
He hates my shaving him. Thankfully, he still has his sense of humor. Yesterday, I sang that old song while shaving him, and we had a good laugh together.

Through rain and wind and weather
Hell bent for leather
Wishin' my gal was by my side
All the things I'm missin'
Good vittles, love and kissin'
Are waiting at the end of my ride
Move 'em on, head 'em up
Head 'em up, move 'em on

Thanks CWillie and Luckylu!

And, are they safe?
I wanted to buy a tricycle, but was told they tip over easily.

Maybe what I need is a recumbent bicycle, where you lie back to ride. Ten minutes in the sun and I would be done and cooked forever! 🚶‍♀️🏃‍♀️🥵️

Maybe I could drive myself on a Harley, lol NOT.

I hate to say this but that is the type of cycle that I was rolling my eyes about a couple of years ago when they got one at mom's facility. They do seem to be a fun ride for some people but they are hugely expensive, the driver needs to be an amazon and most of the residents either wanted nothing to do with it or were satisfied after one ride.

Those Trishaws are really neat Send! What a wonderful idea to help people get out and about.
My Grandmother had a big tricycle with a basket on the back that she used to take to the grocery store sometimes. The Trishaw reminds me of that and how much Grandma loved her bike. Thanks for sharing~

There is a new (newer) cycling sport for the elderly. A movement that is worldwide (international). Photos can be found on
#Cycling without age

With a bicycle rider on a bike behind a little rickshaw, these trishaw rides are even being used in AL to get the elderly out and about.
Many smiles as they sit in the 'trishaw', with the wind in their hair.

The uses are unlimited, and amazing. One is shown delivering groceries!

You gotta see this!

One of those Oriental Bar Massages where the person uses their feet to relax your muscles, balancing herself above you using the bars hanging down from the calling with a CD of relaxing Asian music in the background.

The neat thing that I love is at the end, they put a blanket over you and explain that in a moment your energy will come to the core of your body and then spread back out. Wow! It's like a re-birth experience!

This is a real and legal massage technique, but done best by Asians for they invented it and treat you with respect as they were taught by their culture.

I consider this the Platinum version of massage techniques. It accomplishes more than the deep tissue massage which is far more painful.

Desiderata
GO PLACIDLY amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

pam: Yes, sure hope people don't go "off the rails" upon reopening things. That is okay about the #s. Yes, that was sad about the NH up in your county, but I can imagine how it could occur. Yes, DH and I are safe. Please stay well with all the hours at Hopkins.💞

Opps,, number error,, Thurmont has only 19 cases!! Luckily we are sort of small town still!

Indeed it is Llama,, Thurmont has less than 50 cases from what I can see. Baltimore has pretty many, but they are mostly recovering at home, and Baltimore has pretty many hospitals ( was surprised at how many when I started working there 23 years ago!) Todays numbers from Hopkins say less than 100 currently admitted, and still less than 50 on vents! Not bad for an over 1000 bed hospital at full force! Most of our numbers in Frederick County are from 2 large NH situations, one had over 70 test positive! While I will be glad to see a "soft" reopening, I hope people keep their wits about them and still be very careful! I am blessed that I am still working ( and getting unwanted OT..LOL) but a lot of those in our area are hurting. You all stay safe!

I am very glad today that my huge inner city hospital is returning to a new normal. We are turning Covid units ( some only in place for 3 weeks) back to regular ICUs and are reopening for surgeries.. we were expecting to be COVID for a lot longer! The tent hospitals are being mainly unused.. Horray!! We have less than 50 COVID pts on vents, and are doing well with extubations. Less than 200 admissions with COVID at this time.. Most that are testing positive are able to recover at home and doing well! Thank the Lord!
I got to see the "fly over" for a few seconds yesterday while I worked,, I am glad everyone is thankful for our efforts! The Blue Angels were awesome!
I had a great day of beautiful weather for my day off! I defrosted a freezer, washed some curtains.. today was a good day!

Top movie lines are from the home videos of my family. I watch funny moments of my little ones and their grandparents over and over again. I'm really looking forward to making more family videos once we can start gathering again.

My second favorite movie lines come from Mr. Kelly :)

I'm singin' in the rain
Just singin' in the rain
What a glorious feeling
I'm happy again.
I'm laughing at clouds.
So dark up above,
The sun's in my heart
And I'm ready for love.
Let the stormy clouds chase.
Everyone from the place
Come on with the rain
I've a smile on my face
I walk down the lane
With a happy refrain
Just singing,…
