A good night's sleep, chocolate, the happiness and satisfaction of sharing on AgingCare forum. Does anyone have some favorite things to think about? Yes, this phrase is from the song in the movie "The sound of Music". My husband and I often resort to using movie lines and song to improve communication. We were the only two in a gathering of people who heard the background music playing. We both had the same (cassette tape/CD). A connection bringing two people together. To this day, we crack up when one uses a simple movie line to make a serious point.
SO, What is one of your favorite movie line, some of your favorite things?
This afternoon in So. Cal., it is bright, sunny, blue skies, with bright white fluffy clouds. So beautiful!
Black cap, merry chap
Little chickadee!
Nuts and fat he likes to eat,
Upside down and on his feet,
And he sings so bright and gay
On the cold and wintry days
Chick-a-dee-dee, chick-a-dee-dee, chick-a-dee-dee, chickadee!
A line from Mary Poppins.
I use it as a joke to myself when I “know how everything should be”.
Don't just learn, experience.
Don't just read, absorb.
Don't just change, transform.
Don't just relate, advocate.
Don't just promise, prove.
Don't just criticize, encourage.
Don't just think, ponder.
Don't just take, give.
Don't just see, feel.
Don’t just dream, do.
Don't just hear, listen.
Don't just talk, act.
Don't just tell, show.
Don't just exist, live.”

Love this song.
The nerve of those Whos!
Inviting me down there, on such short notice!
Even if I wanted to go my SCHEDULE Wouldn't allow it!
One o'clock, Wallow in self pity
Four thirty, Stare into the abyss
Five o'clock, Solve world hunger; Tell no one
Five thirty, Jazz-ercise
Six thirty, dinner with me. I can't cancel that again!
Seven o'clock, wrestle with my self-loathing...
I'm booked!
Well if I bump the loathing up to nine I could still be done in time to lay in bed and stare at the ceiling and slip slowly into madness...
But what would I wear!!
Schedule look a little familiar to caregivers everywhere?
Their old familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet the words repeat
Of peace on earth, good will to men.
I thought how, as the day had come,
The belfries of all Christendom
Had rolled along th'unbroken song
Of peace on earth, good will to men.
And in despair I bowed my head:
'There is no peace on earth, ' I said
'For hate is strong, and mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good will to men.'
Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
'God is not dead, nor doth He sleep;
The wrong shall fail, the right prevail,
With peace on earth, good will to men.'
Till, ringing, singing on its way,
The world revolved from night to day
A voice, a chime, a chant sublime,
Of peace on earth, good will to men.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Hot crab dip - one lb. Jumbo lump crabmeat, little milk, 2 blocks 8 oz. cream cheese, a little Old Bay spice in small crock pot - can be doubled - delicious!
Ferrero Rocher make me sad. Through work, I got to know the company a bit. The quality control is outstandingly good and the products' ingredients are first rate.
What's sad is that their marketing and merchandising have been so crashingly terrible that their products have become exactly what you do not give to your friends unless either you are being wittily ironic or you do in fact intend to offend them.
Even better was STROOPWAFEL
A thin Dutch Caramel Waffle Cookie.
I collect the tins of various cookies. Not a collector type person, but I love the Swedish, Dutch, Norwegian patterns.
Cookies are ALL GONE.
