My grandmother lives in the same house, a few rooms away. We need a button that she can press if she falls that signals me in my bedroom. We do NOT need a button like LifeAlert that calls an outside person. We would use a baby monitor, but she has a psychosomatic cough and is up at all hours of the night. When she is awake, she coughs, I'd never sleep.

So, is there any sort of help button we can put in her room that she can press to wake me in the middle of the night?

They sell wireless intercoms, just push and talk.

We bought a wireless doorbell for my mother. Take small screw out of button and remove top. Place a thin ribbon that is long enough to go around and hang down to her chest. Replace lid and screw. Works all over house and in yard. You just have to remember to take the bell part wherever you go in the house. We have used this for 2 years and it is perfect.

Very low tech, but what about a bell? You would hear it in your room, and quickly learn to wake up to it.

My mother uses the house phone to call me on my cell phone, which I keep next to my bed. I also use a baby monitor, but agree it can keep you awake. Overtime, I have been able to sleep through the "usual" noises and only wake when it is something different.

I use these with my Mom: colonialmedical/wireless-personal-pager-P-7162.html&ref=shopping

She wears the button around her neck or tied to her bra. We now have the speaker part in several places in the house - but you can also just move them around. Good range. Now Mom also uses her cell phone since I programed in to my phone. Good luck!
