He was her in a nursing home and we settled a couple of days ago $47,000 and they told me I had to spend it in five days in order for her to continue to be eligible for Medicaid so I just wanna know if I can get like shampoo and conditioner and her fan and all kinds of things like that, besides the clothes, I did pay some medical bills but I have such a short time to spend it down only five days. I did it range to have two $10,000 savings bonds put in her name.

Find Care & Housing
Generally speaking not large amount will be allowable. Personally I wouldn't even attempt to buy more than $50. Since there is a significant amount that is needed to spend down I would hire an eldercare attorney to help you with this. The expense is an allowable Medicaid long term care spend down expense

Did you make funeral arrangements and a gravestone? If not that is an allowable expense

At worst case scenario, If she is disqualified for Medicaid long term care, you can use the money to pay out of pocket to the nursing home so she isn't "evicted" then the reapplication will be submitted and reviewed once the spend down is fulfilled.

These funds are now her assets and should be used to pay her care. I would see an elder law attorney to see if there is a way to shelter these funds for her. That will help spend them down for CERTAIN! If not, she will go off Medicaid and private pay until those funds are spent. It is quite certain no one will be spending 50K on cosmetics and shampoos, isn't it?

You need to spend it on her care in the NH. She goes off Medicaid and when gone, you go back on. Who "told" you the NH or Moms Medicaid caseworker? You will never spend down 47k in 5 days.
