I am 57 and I am taking care of a 79 year old lady who doesn't have any family. I was not working at the time can I get my ss for caring for her.

Were any funds withheld and paid to the federal government by her or her accountant or attorney during the time you were employed by her?

How can you receive SS at 57? Were you paying into it?

Yes you can!! Contact her tax person with your request and they will give you the necessary info. My mom just died a few weeks ago and I was the one who handled Social Security for her caregivers (I was one of the caregivers and I gave my info alongside the others). Assandache, that's my point as well. Unless deductions were made, I don't see how any credits could accumulate for that work. Or perhaps the OP paid into the SS system herself.
