I have a hard time with steps. What are the steps to obtaining one.

Typically Medicare does not cover stair lifts . It is considered a home modification , not DME such as a wheelchair or walker . But double check with you insurance plans .

In few instances for some diagnosis Medicaid will help , if you are in Medicaid .

If you are a veteran the VA may help .
You could also reach out to your County Area of Aging to see if they know of any help , grants etc.

Typically though , the cost would be totally on you , similar to if you were to do a bathtub to shower conversion .

Be sure to let us know if you find a way to qualify. It could be helpful to another. Good Luck!

Stair lifts are advertised all the time on TV. Acorn is one I see. Put stairlifts in search and you will see a number of companys. If your problem could be considered a disability, call your County Dept of Disabilities. They helped my friend with a ramp. Start with Office of Aging. Where I live the Depts are combined.

I don’t think you have to qualify for one. Just buy it and pay for installation and you’re all set!
