For those with loved ones of size and weight who need a shower bench or chair, Moen makes both and they are the best on the market with thick sturdy metal (and plastic). They have great reviews and I highly recommend.

If you have a loved one of size and weight in need of a shower chair or bench Moen makes a bariatric model that is the thickest and sturdiest on the market. The bars that carry the weight are thick and they have a lot of positive reviews.

Your local social services might provide information about where donated items are stored. It is called a community closet and might be at a town senior center or somewhere close to the social services office. Just about every town has one

Medicare Part B generally does not cover shower chairs, as they are considered personal convenience items rather than medically necessary durable medical equipment (DME). However, Medicare may cover other types of DME if they are deemed medically necessary by a doctor and are prescribed for use in the home. For specific coverage details, it’s best to contact Medicare directly (800) 633-4227, or review your Medicare plan.

On Facebook Marketplace right now, there's a shower chair for free, one for $8 and several for $15 in my area alone. I've never seen one for more than $5 at an estate sale or garage sale.

Medicare pays for one assistive appliance every 5 years. A walker or wheelchair, or in some cases, an electric scooter.

As of 13 yrscago, no. I used to work for a loan closet and that was one thing that Medicare would not cover. This is the cheapest at CVS. Walmart maybe cheaper.

They are not that expensive to buy outright, but you can also find them at Goodwill, thrift stores, Shepherd Centers(if you have one in your city), and Senior Services.

I’m not sure, but they’re not expensive. We got a stool 10 years ago and now both use it.
