My father has not been well for few years. All his tests are mostly normal and doctors advice him to quit smoking (he was a cronic smoker). Now he smokes once a day and we dont stop him cuz he feels uneasy without it. He weighs less than 40kgs and very weak at this time. We have changed doctors, medicines of all sorts but he doesnt seem to recover. There is no such serious illness as per doctors. We think it was his unhealthy lifestyle ( smoking and improper eating habits). He was in a marketing job and due to travelling everyday there was no such eating routine. He never cared about his body and now it seems to have had very bad effect on him. He has not been well for a long time ( cough, lose motion, fever and weakness) and now he seems hopeless. He doesnt have hunger at all and sometimes he behaves like a 90 year old, hopeless with his health. Please somebody suggest what should we do. He is getting weaker and weaker now. Though he has tried ayusvedic anf homeopathic meds as well still if someone has a good experience, plz suggest.

At 40 kg he is close to death already. Changing doctors is useless at this point. The man knows he is dying, no appetite is a sign he will lose more weight. Help him make out his Will and write his Obituary. So Sorry.

Sounds like something gastrointestinal is going on with him, and that is an area that is tough to diagnose.if you are not ina western country. Has he been seen bu a GI specialist or two?

I am so sorry about your father's condition at such a young age.

No doubt his unhealthy habits contributed to poor health, but, really, millions of people have very poor habits and stay functioning way beyond their sixties. And for many of them once they improve their habits their health improves, too.

Does your father have lung cancer? Is that what causes the cough?

Where is your father located?

Has anyone suggested hospice care for him?

Again, I am very sorry that your family is facing this.

What sorts of tests have his doctors run?

Are you taking his word for what the doctors are telling him, or are you hearing from the doctors themselves that they don't know what his underlying illness is?

Sendme2 help, Giardia? Very interesting possibility. Doctors don't check for parasites anymore. Treatable with Flagyl (metronidazole). Good thought.

Sounds like a case of depression which he doesn't care whether he lives or dies. If he doesn't do something soon, he will pass. Talk with his doctors. Maybe they will put him on a long term fungal medication that will get to the underlying cause. I had a long bout with colds, coughs, etc. but nothing seemed to help until I went to an allergist. He put me on a long term low-dose fungal medication that I took for at least 6 months. It took that long to help kill whatever the allergies had built up in my system. I felt like a new person after those months. I was also in a deep depression due to two deaths in my family 5 months apart which helped bring down my immune system. Ask his doctor about it and if he doesn't do anything about it, take him to an allergist to see if they can help. Maybe they can do something, otherwise, just make sure his papers and accounts are all in order.

I hope your dad does see a GI doc.

Sadly, though, years of smoking have possibly damaged ALL of his systems. Smoking causes ALL cancers, we tend to think it's only the lungs.

Did you really mean to say 40 kilos?? That is skeletal, even for a very small man!! He should be in an acute care hospital to be treated for his anorexia while they figure out what is going on, I'm amazed he isn't already in organ failure.

the body runs on food and it's nutrients. leafy greens, fruits, nuts, steak with a fresh orange, Pineapple before bed to kill parasites, millet a grain that boosts methionine in the cells which improves their function. Sounds like he's starving to death. Mabye he has a tape worm?
