LO believed she had appt at her home with female nurse for annual Medicare review. Male showed up 90 minutes early. Asked some seemingly legit questions, some unnecessary. Ten minutes after leaving, he called , “forgot” to ask about funeral benefits, got LO to give bank account numbers. Anyone else experience this? Any advice on how to convince her to not fall prey again? I’m out of ideas! Thank you so much!

It looks like a legit company. I think that someone should have been there when Mom had this appointment. She should have called you when a person was there 90 min earlier. Did she see a nurse?

Did the male leave a card or information? I would call these people and ask what is going on. No one should be asking for bank account information unless going to do a automatic withdrawal. Did Mom sign anything?

If you don't have POA for health and medical, I would get them and the financial should be immediate. We have to be advocates for our parents. We have to protect them from scams. Even well meaning people may not give the best advice for Mom.

Have you frozen the accounts? Does LO have issues with dementia or being overly trusting? Maybe it’s time for LO not to have access to finances, something to consider. How scary

Oh Oh.
The way not to get taken in this way, if your loved one doesn't understand not to give out private and personal banking information is for someone to be POA over financial things. This is quite dangerous.
So sorry this happened to you, but this could happen to your loved one in a thousand ways with phone or appointments or any other way.
I have seldom seen them coming to the HOME, and that's quite terrifying.
I hope you have information from loved one to follow up whether or not this was Signify which is a legitimate company. Also those accounts need now freezing right away. Until you know what's up.
