I am in NYC and I was wondering how do I find out how much I have used from Community Medicaid. I retired at 65 and I have Medicare since then. I am currently on Medicare saving programs. The Medicare Savings Program (MSP) is a Medicaid-administered program available to Medicare consumers with limited income. If you qualify, this program will pay your Medicare Part B premium. and other cost-sharing expenses. Ever since I applied for MSP, Medicare Advantage Plans becomes my health insurance and I use it to see doctor, specialist, lap work, dental / eye care & prescription drugs. My understanding is that Medicare pay first and whatever Medicare does not cover then Medicaid pays the rest. So my question is how do I find out how much Medicaid has paid on my behalf? Also, is this type of medical assistance subject to recovery?! Anyone has experience with this with their elderly parents? Thanks.
My father had MSP, I don't remember him getting bills or statements showing what Medicaid paid. As far as I know, this type of assistance is not subject to recovery. He didn't have any assets, and his SS check was low enough to qualify for the MSP. I don't know if it is different if you own property though.
