How do I find out if I can get an exemption for caregiving? Who do I ask?

If your talking about claiming someone as a dependent you need to talk to a tax person.

You are speaking of an IRS exemption? I assume.
I just went to my search engine and typed in "IRS exemption for caregiver" and a whle WEALTH of information popped right up for me. To start with, this:

"I am a caregiver for my aging parent. May I claim my parent as a dependent on my tax return?
I am a caregiver for my aging parent who lives in my home. May I file as head of household?
I care for my parents in my home. My parents occasionally give me money to pay for their share of household expenses. Is this money taxable to me?"

and MORE.
The internet is your friend and the IRS has a wonderful website full of answers for you.
Wishing you the very best of luck, and a very Happy New Year!

Not sure what kind of exemption you're referring to...? This is a global forum of private citizen caregivers here for education and support.

Are you talking about a tax exemption? Or an Elder Waiver to make care more affordable?

I would start with your county's social services (Dept of Health)
