Based on your preferences, we provide you with information about one or more of our contracted senior living providers ("Participating Communities") and provide your Senior Living Care Information to Participating Communities. The Participating Communities may contact you directly regarding their services. APFM does not endorse or recommend any provider. It is your sole responsibility to select the appropriate care for yourself or your loved one. We work with both you and the Participating Communities in your search. We do not permit our Advisors to have an ownership interest in Participating Communities.
II. How We Are Paid. We do not charge you any fee – we are paid by the Participating Communities. Some Participating Communities pay us a percentage of the first month's standard rate for the rent and care services you select. We invoice these fees after the senior moves in.
III. When We Tour. APFM tours certain Participating Communities in Washington (typically more in metropolitan areas than in rural areas.) During the 12 month period prior to December 31, 2017, we toured 86.2% of Participating Communities with capacity for 20 or more residents.
IV. No Obligation or Commitment. You have no obligation to use or to continue to use our services. Because you pay no fee to us, you will never need to ask for a refund.
V. Complaints. Please contact our Family Feedback Line at (866) 584-7340 or ConsumerFeedback@aplaceformom.com to report any complaint. Consumers have many avenues to address a dispute with any referral service company, including the right to file a complaint with the Attorney General's office at: Consumer Protection Division, 800 5th Avenue, Ste. 2000, Seattle, 98104 or 800-551-4636.
VI. No Waiver of Your Rights. APFM does not (and may not) require or even ask consumers seeking senior housing or care services in Washington State to sign waivers of liability for losses of personal property or injury or to sign waivers of any rights established under law.I agree that: A.I authorize A Place For Mom ("APFM") to collect certain personal and contact detail information, as well as relevant health care information about me or from me about the senior family member or relative I am assisting ("Senior Living Care Information"). I was my dad’s POA and also on his banking accounts. I changed all his bills to paying them online through the bank but never used the POA to do this. I just set it up and did it, no one questioned it at all, likely because I was on the accounts
Are you his PoA? Your profile doesn't state that your friend is incapacitated and that you don't live in the same state as him. If he has his mind, he can give you permission to set up online accounts on his behalf. It would be best if you were is DPoA.
Also, as a PoA for 3 elders, I find it is not enough to just set up online banking... they need online account access for their healthcare provider, credit card, investments, utilities, services, etc. You will need to be diligent in keeping the passwords safe and accurate, so I recommend a password keeper, like 1Password.
The neat think about online banking is that all you really need are the passwords (and the ability to successfully navigate two step verification if required).
As long as the transactions show up on the principles bank statement I see no problem. Like said, if person is competent, you need to get their permission. POAs usually aren't in effect until the person is declared incompetent unless its immediate.
My Moms bank statement was the record I had showing the money coming in and the money going out. Need 5 yrs of bank statements if the person you have POA for ever needs Medicaid.
I’be paid for some of friend’s bills and even having the passwords it has been a nightmare. Privacy issues where he would have get on the phone and say it was okay to pay his bill! I will be getting the POA next week before my friends’s surgery takes place. Not sure why any company would deny someone to pay a bill.
How is it a nightmare to have someone's password to pay an online bill?? Getting on the phone is a totally different matter than paying a bill online where you're not dealing with people or privacy questions. Getting a POA isn't going to make bill paying any easier, either, since you're online pushing buttons on a keyboard that doesn't require having POA. Same thing on the phone....unless the person on the other end of the line is looking at the signed POA, it won't do you any good. Your friend just needs to get himself set up on auto pay online for all the bills and just make sure there's enough funds in his account to cover the deductions. Thats the easiest way to insure the bills are paid with ease and no heartburn every month. Otherwise, just log onto each bill pay site with his password and pay each bill separately every month. If there are security questions associated with the accounts, he'll need to inform you of those answers beforehand. The easy way is auto pay. He can always cancel auto pay when he's back on his feet again.
It's a security setting; if you're accessing someone else's account info from another device. Your friend will probably have to set up autopay from his phone/computer,etc.
