Not quite certain what you are saying.  Are you saying he did not need to be in NH because you would care for him?  because I agree with pp, NH would not take him unless appropriate.   People can need NH because of mental, physical issues or both.  If he was mentally competent, you two could have married, and that would have solved this.   If he is not competent, then his POA is free to make a decision.   From what  you say, the guy has a lot of money and his family (kids?) want that to go them, not you.  Understandable.   If it has happens several times in your life, maybe your expectations are not reasonable.

I suggest you forget about removing the person from LTC and instead concentrate on how you can support them in their new environment. Clearly they weren’t placed in the facility simply because their family wants to keep them away from someone. Clearly they require nursing home level care aka round the clock care so be happy they are receiving the care they need.

Well, if you are the woman, in theory, you could go to court and get named his guardian.  Somehow I find unlikely the court will go along with.

I have to agree. There is certain criteria that has to be met for a person to be placed in a NH. This person must have met the criteria. Someone in the family must have POA and the person was found to be incompetent to care for himself so he was placed in a NH.

A person has to meet the needs requirements of a nursing home. A family cannot just place a person there if they do not need nursing home care.

If you are the woman in question, you cannot go around the family and remove him from the nursing home.
