Find Care & Housing
Are you trying to get him into LTC? The VA homes take service related Vets before someone suffering from Dementia, I have heard. My friend had to place her husband, with ALZ, on Medicaid in a regular LTC facility because there was no bed available in the VA nursing home. He passed before he was able to get into a VA home. You maybe better going this route too.

I know of 2 men that use the VA Hodpital as their suppliment to Medicare. The closest hospital is across a bridge in the neighboring state. They use the doctors there and other services, but they had to sign up for the hospital staff to see them.

Patriot Angels. They're a 3rd party who will speak with you and determine whether or not your uncle qualifies. If he does, they'll tell you exactly what they need from you, including the one-time fee they charge.

I used them after a very unfruitful and frustrating year applying for benefits for my Mother. Within 3 months, my Mother was getting benefits.

Go on line and find a local Veteran Services Officer (called a VSO) in your area. I spent 4 years trying to get anything from the VA, and this VSO got my Ex his VA disability award in 6 months!

Gather his documents, especially his DD214 form (when he was released from the service). Without that, you get nothing. You may need to order a copy from the Dept. of Veterans Affairs.

What kind of help do you need? Using benefits to provide urgent care needs? With the paperwork to get the benefits in the first place?

More information would be helpful.

This is something you will need to research through VA. They have a good website and you can start there, but the best information may come from VA in your own local.
Good luck.
