I’ve been with them for 3years. They treat me like family. They are paying for my plane ticket, all expenses, we r staying w/wife’s relatives who live in a mansion - I will have my own room & private bathroom, use of their pool. They feel that paying me half of my normal wage for the 2 weeks is fair.
is it?

Find Care & Housing
It’s only fair if you do half the work.

Does the cost of plane ticket, all your meals, hotel type room equal the other half of your wages? If so, then it sounds like an even swap.

Enjoy your trip :)

Nope. Full pay. Are you a live in caregiver? If not this will be a lot more hours than you are doing now. Them flying you there is because they need you there it isn’t a perk

Will you have time to yourself or are you on call 24/7.

A couple of members run their own business, hopefully they will chime in.

It doesn't matter if the OP will have time of. Every job has time. That doesn't mean that our wages get reduced.

The vacation 'schedule' should be exactly the same as their regular work schedule. Same time and days off and the same pay.

No half-pay nonsense. Full pay or they find a different caregiver to go with them.

Not fair at all. And don't buy into their "you're like family" baloney. It's a job. You are not their family. They need you to be there. It's not a vacation for you. It's still work. Either they pay you your regular wage or don't go.

Full, regular wages. No question about it. You are not vacation. You are still at work. So full pay.

If the clients refuse, then you don't go with them. Take the two weeks off yourself and do something else.

Here's the thing about them treating you like 'family'. You are not family. You are an employee. They may be very nice people and you may also be, but the business end of a relationship has to be kept separate from the niceties, and the being just like one of the family.

Full wages, or you don't go.

There are laws in each state that govern pay when traveling.

You should at least be getting full pay, possibly more if you are available more.

Check with your states wage and hours department.

Tell employers full pay or you will not be able to go with them.
