My aunt, my mother and myself all live together as I am their primary caregiver. My mother's boyfriend also currently resides with us. This guy will tell my mom lies and she believes him no matter what. I just found out that the rent that we pay (split 3 ways between me, my aunt and mom) was not payed for 4 months. Between her check and my aunt's that's $1,000 a month each and rent ($1,000), my mom spent $6,000 in 3 months but has not payed the rent in 4 months and somehow there is still no money remaining? I'm concerned that her 60 yr old boyfriend is taking money from her. I'm not sure how to approach this topic with her. Any advice?
Who pays the rent to the landlord - your mother, your aunt or you? Or did the boyfriend con your mother into thinking that he was paying the rent for all of you?
In any case it's no good asking us, we haven't a clue. Talk to your aunt and between you look at the paper trail, ask your mother about it all gently, and find out what the heck has been going on. Goodness only knows what your landlord has to say about it, has anyone been in touch?
After that I would call the police and report him.
In the meantime, get the rent up to date or you will all be out on the street.
Assuming you have POA, why did you agree to boyfriend moving in?
