Hello! I have a bit of a dilemna. My dad lives out of state, and has been staying with me since last December. He's going to return to his home in a week. He suffers from meningioma, in its early stages. His geriatric doctor gave him a capacity exam yesterday. He said that my dad has the capacity to pick who will make his decisions, but little else. Things like self care, medical and financial decisions are out of his reach. This surprised me, as he takes care of his hygiene, and heats up tv dinners, goes to the store and such. I'm concerned about when he returns home, since he lives alone. In addition, he has mobility issues, which are getting worse. While staying with me, actually passed out while standing at a bus station. He had to be carried on to the bus, then he was find. I'm thinking, at minimum, a nurses aid should come by three times a week. Does anyone have other ideas?
