This guy came through hospice. We’ve usually talked twice a month. But I haven’t spoken to him since May as he canceled and rescheduled appointments through June. Then he just stopped doing it.

We have a rapport, I guess, but this is actually his job for which Medicare reimburses him through the hospice, I have three visits left.

What should I do?

Contact the hospice agency. Medicare in my understanding is using the hospice agency as the contractor for payment. The counselor either works for this hospice group or is a subcontractor for several hospice agencies.

I am so sooooo glad to see someone posting on using this Medicare benefit. It’s just so worthwhile.

You call the hospice that you used and ask them what the heck is going on. Perhaps hospice had to let him go for some reason, or he moved on to greener pastures.
Either way, you deserve an explanation and to get hooked up with someone else if need be for your remaining visits, as hospice/Medicare does cover grief counseling for one year after your loved one died that was under their care.

This guy and I are kinda friends, but on a professional level. I don’t really wish to harm him by calling the hospice and demanding my three minimum sessions, but is my only choice to text him saying that if he does not respond by Tuesday, I’ll have to contact his employer?
