There is an area for a Profile use it.
Please add as much detail as you possibly can without giving names.
things like:
Age, General Medical condition (dementia, Parkinson's, cancer, etc.)
Town or county is great but at least the State (or Country)
Details like these can help get much better answers and narrow down ideas and suggestions.

Find Care & Housing
@ admins

On the about me page , Rather than asking for a zip code only,
perhaps a drop down of states , countries. I suspect this is why many ( including me ) do not reveal where they live.

This way people do not have to have the town they live in show up if they don’t want. Having the town show up especially if it’s an odd name ( like my town ) could potentially have people I know realize who I am , say other family members ………who may stumble across this site.

It would be helpful if people had a choice of only revealing country or state if they prefer to leave out the town.

Yes absolutely no zip codes!! Once we get to know the forum then if we want to share that's up to us. State and county are very useful, and sometimes very needed to give the right information back.

But I'm seeing many people not putting any info and we are flying blind , not being able to give the best answers

The zip codes are for data collection by the website owners (A Place For Mom). It's for mailing lists.

I think that filling out a profile not necessary, IMO there is sometimes an almost malicious scoping out of profiles and previous posts in order to "prove" the forum member is wrong/not who they seem/not worthy of responses. If you can't or won't help move on, if you need details in order to provide help ask for them and if the OP doesn't respond move on - many people are just looking for generalizations and are not interested in anything in depth.

Yes, maybe not in their profile but they have to put essential information in their actual post. If they are new to caregiving and this forum they sometimes don't realize what's essential info...

I do have where I live. But I understand that some want to keep that private and that is really how it should be. I would appreciate a country though. I think we could answer questions better if we new where a person is from. We go into long posts about Medicare and Medicaid only to find the person is from the UK.

Filling in the profile would be nice.

I agree a country would help .
By the time someone comes here they are very often distraught and forget to mention country in their questions .
Which is why I thought perhaps if country was at least an option on the profile instead of zip code some people may do that .

Click on your avatar (in your case the blue P), then click on Profile, then click on Settings and from there choose which area you need to edit.

I think it's always helpful to know where the elder/care receiver lives (with the caregiver, the caregiver lives with them, in a home or apartment/IL community/condo since they have contracts and rules, or in a facility, is in rehab, etc)

and

if the person being discussed has a PoA or legal guardian. OPs often are seeking solutions but they may not be able to carry it out unless they have the legal authority.

Again I have noticed a LOT of new posts, questions from new members and there is no information in the profile section.
If, when you post a question, you would provide as much information as possible WITHOUT giving private identifying info it would help a GREAT deal in providing good, accurate information.
And a response would be appreciated as well.
