My mother been in this nursing home for approximately 3 years. The problem is the dresser in the nursing home does not have all the knobs on it and it really doesn’t look good. I have discussed this with numerous people that work there including the director.

The director says he will replace the knobs, but it’s been 2 years and it still hasn't been handled. My mother has asked me to take the knobs off of the other dresser in the room since she no longer has a roommate and no one is using the other dresser.

My question is should I changed the knobs by using the dresser no one is using now?

Thanks.

Ann

This may not be the right answer, but my first reaction is ‘Are you joking?’ No-one except you and M cares about these nobs, do what you want. The best place to get cheap ones (new they are surprisingly expensive) is at a dump outlet. Junk the dreadful cupboards, keep the nobs.

I guess your mother is fixated on this. Buy knobs from someplace else. You can get a pack of knobs at Amazon for about 30 bucks. I envy you this non- problem.

Ann, Nursing home residents can be like office workers, somebody with a good desk chair leaves and someone else switches their bad chair for the better chair. Maybe get some inexpensive knobs to replace the ones you switch or switch out the dressers.

Either take the knobs off the other dresser like your mother suggested , switch the dressers entirely , buy some cheap knobs ……or if it was my narc mother who liked attention and to be envied…..I would buy real fancy knobs. The nursing home will not care .

Home depot, Lowe's or Amazon will gladly sell you some knobs. Do Mom a big favor and get some lovely ones for the dresser.

Go to Habitat for Humanity and get some nice used ones. They usually have a good selection in boxes or bins near the other used hardware. They might cost as much as a dollar apiece. Some are really pretty.

Just change the dressers around. I would have gotten new knobs long ago. Its not hard to replace them.

Is there an empty room in the facility? If so just swap out the dresser or remove knobs or handles from the one in an empty room and put them on the one in mom's room.
I would have done either of these 22 months ago.
