I've been using Lysol Laundry Sanitizer. It has zero bleach in it so it doesn't harm fabrics, and it's as effective as Lysol wipes for killing bacteria, viruses (including covid), and odors. You use your regular laundry detergent, but in addition you add the directed amount of the Lysol laundry sanitizer into the washing machine "rinse" compartment. Select the "extra rinse" option before running the load.

I prefer their "Crisp Linen" scent, but scentless is also available. It's not expensive, and most grocery stores carry it. It works better than anything I've tried in the last 5 years. Everything comes out fresh, soft, clean, and no odors. I now use it on every load of laundry I do - bedding, towels, clothing, throw rugs, tennis shoes...plus it doesn't cause an allergic reaction.
