She can not give me much help as she lives in another town and has to work. She is a private sitter for someone right now. She could move closer and we could alternate between my parents if she could somehow get a little pay for her part in helping them. My Dad has COPD and is on oxygen and my mother has hemachromotosis but does well with it. My dad is very demanding and has driven most of the family away from giving any kind of useful help.

I would check with an accountant but I think one possibility is that they gift her some money. I think there might be a $10,000/year limit on gifting money. If the money you were thinking of falls in that range, that might work.

But, please don't take my suggestion as it is, since I'm not 100% certain. Check the tax codes and/or talk to an accountant.
