Based on your preferences, we provide you with information about one or more of our contracted senior living providers ("Participating Communities") and provide your Senior Living Care Information to Participating Communities. The Participating Communities may contact you directly regarding their services. APFM does not endorse or recommend any provider. It is your sole responsibility to select the appropriate care for yourself or your loved one. We work with both you and the Participating Communities in your search. We do not permit our Advisors to have an ownership interest in Participating Communities.
II. How We Are Paid. We do not charge you any fee – we are paid by the Participating Communities. Some Participating Communities pay us a percentage of the first month's standard rate for the rent and care services you select. We invoice these fees after the senior moves in.
III. When We Tour. APFM tours certain Participating Communities in Washington (typically more in metropolitan areas than in rural areas.) During the 12 month period prior to December 31, 2017, we toured 86.2% of Participating Communities with capacity for 20 or more residents.
IV. No Obligation or Commitment. You have no obligation to use or to continue to use our services. Because you pay no fee to us, you will never need to ask for a refund.
V. Complaints. Please contact our Family Feedback Line at (866) 584-7340 or ConsumerFeedback@aplaceformom.com to report any complaint. Consumers have many avenues to address a dispute with any referral service company, including the right to file a complaint with the Attorney General's office at: Consumer Protection Division, 800 5th Avenue, Ste. 2000, Seattle, 98104 or 800-551-4636.
VI. No Waiver of Your Rights. There are several brands of premium incontinence briefs, there are also booster pads designed to be used in addition to the product you already have, I'm including a Canadian link so you will have to search for American sources but it should give a starting point
The "trick" is to go in and change them before they are soaked through. My Husband went to bed at about 7 PM. (his choice from early on) and I would go to bed about 10. I would change him before I got into bed. Most of the time he would sleep through the change or fall asleep shortly after. And I would hear him about 4 or 5 AM and I would change him again and then I would begin my day about 5. (treadmill, shower, dress) then get him up about 7 and get him into the bathroom, and start his morning routine. So he was changed 2 times after going to bed. (and sometimes I STILL had soaked bedding, clothing and sometimes a puddle!)
I've had very good results using Egosan pull up disposable briefs, plus adding a disposable "power pad" to the inside of the brief. I usually only need to change them twice within 24 hours. I also use washable bed mattress pads, just in case.
My routine is to get husband up on the commode in the morning, change to clean briefs/pad, then before bedtime change the brief and add new power pad. Have not needed to change briefs during the night in 4 years. Yay!
-The Egosan briefs hold moisture away from the skin, and they have an ample capacity to hold urine and poop. Neither generally leak. Occasionally the bed pad is damp, but I wash it anyway daily.
- downside of Egosan briefs is that they're costly - 14 briefs cost about $29 - but that lasts for a week. You probably come out about even for cost when you consider the number of Depends you need to use every day.
I found Egosan through trial and error - but it's made a big difference to my husband and me. You can buy Egosan on Amazon - you might want to buy a pack to see if it lives up to my accolades.
