Find Care & Housing
Is it a bedsore? If so, she needs medical attention (wound care). Bedsores are very hard to handle and can cause an infection which can ultimately be fatal. She probably needs medical attention for the sore in any event. If she's been seen by the doctor, what does the doctor say?

If she has homehealthcare - they can assist you. My DH was suffering and the biggest problem is, "if you ask 100 people, you will get 100 pieces of advice."  I didn't take him to the doctor because he does have HomeHealthCare and they watched and reported to the doctor.  Had it been an open wound, we would have taken him somewhere - probably the Wound Center.

I googled bedsores, pressure sores - went to forums for wheelchair bound patients but the best advice came unexpectedly - Colloidal Silver Gel (I think any colloidal silver would do) and the Colloidal Silver was the only thing to start the healing process.

DH's looked like an abrasion and he complained of heat - lots of heat. The Colloidal Silver coupled with a Barrier Cream helped my DH but it did take about a month for the sore to finally be totally gone.

This is why the patient must change positions or be moved regularly. The sores can get quite ugly. If it looks like an open sore - get the doctor involved immediately. Medicare now approves doctor's home visits under certain circumstances.

Dear smoothie214,

Please take this woman to a doctor ASAP. I have to agree with Carla, do not let this escalate.

My dad had this condition too. He would get sores and I would use this cream. But if things are not looking good and she is in pain, it must be managed by a nurse or doctor.
