If it's truly just dry skin (and not some other medical condition) my dermatologist recommends cream, not lotion. I use CeraVe body cream or Vanicream (it doesn't have lanolin in it).

Gold Bond Eczema Relief lotion. Another little trick is to mix a few drops of an unscented body oil into a glob of moisturizer in your hand and then apply. Doing so can make the moisturizer a little richer and easier to glide over the skin.
