Where do people who have no place to go live? Especially older individuals who have been living OK with the spousal income (until the divorce starts) then where do you go to live?

I am so sorry that you had to divorce. I would hope that your assets will be split 50/50. Where you go would depend on how much money you will have to live on. Where I live, HUD has apartment buildings. They require 30% of your income for rent. Heat included and I think electric is a set amt. You will need to apply now because of a wait list. There are low income apartments. Office of Aging in your County maybe able to help you and Social Services.

Contact social services for your county to see if you qualify for Section 8 subsidized housing. There might be a waiting list.

You can contact local churches to see if they have resources for crisis housing (so, not a permanent solution).
