Grandma finally needs 24/7 care. She has some money to pay for a few years at a group home. When she runs out of her money and needs to apply for Medicaid, will she be forced to move to a crappy institutional nursing home ? Is Medicaid widely accepted at Group Home settings ? I have heard that many places won't accept Medicaid and thus the good ones are impossible to get into and the ones you can get into are of low quality. She lives in Reno, Nevada. Thank you for any opinions and recommendations !

Your profile says you are caring for mom who is 91. Is this question about grandma or mom?
I googled care advisors for Reno , there’s a lot there.. find one that is local… I used an independent one 3 times , once for my mom in her AL out of my state, again with another company in my town for when I moved her here, and for my in laws. These people get paid by where you choose, not by you.Invaluable service. They will know what is available, how much they cost, schedule tours, basically take you by the hand. I think it’s important you find someone local who will meet with you. Not just talk with you over the phone . I had a negative experience with that situation..
