We are trying to gather info for aunt to get the Medicaid application processed. The staff have been great in helping us out since but we were afraid to ask if they will make her leave if she cannot afford to pay for care pending Medicaid approval. She had no assets other than a savings account with not much and one small Life insurance policy. Not sure what our options would be if they make her leave. Thanks

Yes, they will keep her. If for some reason Medicaid is denied, you(or they would) would call a state elder care social worker. You do not have to take responsibilty for her care. That event is unlikely though, there is no need to worry

This is a question for the NH. Hopefully Medicaid will OK back to the date she was admitted.

Be on top of them. You can always as who the Medicaid caseworker reviewing Moms application is and call to makecsure they are getting info in a timely manner. In my State you only have 90 days from time of application to spend down and get them info needed.
