I have a sibling who is trying to charge me for the monthly bills while I lived with my mom and was her 24 hour live in caregiver. My parents would of never expected this. I quit my job so I could care for my mom because she literally took all my time. My family wouldn't come and help me unless they were paid. I didn't have a day off in a year. 2 or 3 hours here and there I would get a break. So in my rebuttal I was told to charge the estate for the care I gave.
In regards to charging the Estate for care that you gave to your Mom, such as assistance with ADLs, I doubt that you will get paid unless you had a Caregiver Agreement in writing that both your Mom and you signed and which stated that you would be paid a specific amount of money per hour or per week/month.
Did you have any sort of written contract with your mother?
